Writing Tips / Re: Writer's Block : A Massive Four Letter Word
« on: October 05, 2013, 04:45:58 pm »
I say start writing for writing prompts. That actually helped me to write a short story for my creative writing class when I was a senior in high school. That gets you writing outside of your comfort zone, you're writing everyday (or every week...whatever your speed is), the prompts could end up becoming some really good ideas, you could end up writing more...the possibilities open you up and you may feel a bit better.

That Writer's Write page that was posted on the FOS facebook page always posts some prompts up...some really good ones, from what I've seen. So I would say to give it whirl and see where it takes you.

Reading also helps me, sometimes. It depends on the book for me...I find that if something really inspires you, like a song or a book or a painting, go to that. Music and books often inspire me whenever I'm in a jam, so I turn to those, and I write down every little idea that I have when listening or reading, even if it's dumb, it helps me. Or I'll talk to my little sister, who's always super supportive and is actually a fan of what I write (and she keeps pushing me to start on my novel...which I'm procrastinating on and I should really take my own advice, lol), and just talking with her about writing will give me ideas.

Writing Tips / Re: My writing is rusty

I agree. Just start writing. Get yourself in your best writing mood, too. Sometimes when I wanna write, I get myself one of my favorite drinks, get in my favorite spot on the bed with a bunch of pillows, get my favorite pen and notebook and just put down random stuff.

I would suggest trying it on a day when you don't have to do anything, or as a way to wind down after a stressful day. It doesn't have to be fanfiction. Write about whatever comes to your mind. It could be your day at work, something you saw or read that interested you. Inspiration can come from anywhere...and the more you write, the better you get. I find that I do my best work when I don't try to force it. Maybe the same goes for you.

I like to carry a notebook with me wherever I go just in case I get an idea. Just little things. They may not go anywhere, or they could be the next awesome writing project you start. As long as you keep yourself writing, you can only get better.

I hope that helped..

General FAQ / Re: First Time Yaoi Writer

Thank you for that!

I started writing and I made sure that once dominance was established, I didn't do anything to...take away from that, I guess you could say. I have another fic with yuri in it and the roles are pretty much equal, so this is my first male/male and the first time toying with dominance and submissiveness in a homosexual relationship.

Thank you for the advice!!

I was intending on writing a smut, actually. I know that I typically like to flip who would be dominant and who would be submissive. Say...if a person is in a situation that would make a normal person submissive, I'd make their personality more dominant, and vice versa. So that's what I was thinking when I thought of this.

General FAQ / First Time Yaoi Writer

So I've never written Yaoi before, but I've got this plot bunny for a Jakotsu/Inuyasha one shot smut fic.

But I'm not too sure how to go about it.

Anyone ever written yaoi before?? Care to give me any pointers??

Sup, everyone!!  ;D

Such A Fckn Lady, here!

Umm...where do I start??

I've been a part of FOS for almost a year, now. It'll be a year in...a month, I think? Something like that. I love reading reader-inserts, but I write mostly OC stuff. I have two stories out right now....both with love triangles. I have a thing for love triangles...I guess I love the drama of it...it's so steamy, a lot of times! lol

I'm typically a cheerful, happy person with a sarastic streak. Most of my fics are pretty dark and angsty, though. If I write anything happy, it's typically smut...but idk if that qualifies as happy. And I have a thing for villains...I have no idea why, but I do.  They're just so sexy!

Also, I NEED SOME FRIENDS THAT WRITE FANFICTION!! I barely have any, and it's sad, because I have no one to talk to about it!  :'(

Anyway...hoping to gain new friends in the fanfiction community!

Cheers!
